I haven’t always been a writer—in fact, my career started out on a very different path. I studied law at the University of East Anglia then qualified as a chartered accountant. I worked in corporate tax, ran my own consultancy business and lectured at a Financial Training College. The turning point in my life was emigrating to Australia with my young family. It seemed the perfect opportunity for new beginnings so I ditched the rat-race (and the money) to follow my crazy dream of becoming a writer. It has been a difficult journey and a tremendous learning curve (as every committed writer will attest), but I have never looked back.

My début picture book ‘Born to Fly’ was published by MidnightSun in August 2019. Born to Fly tells the story of South Australian pioneer aviator Captain Harry Butler. The book received a fantastic response from schools and libraries and achieved a Notable Commendation from The Children’s Book Council of Australia.

I am currently working on two further picture books based on magnificent Australians—more information to follow…

My non-fiction writing has been published online and in magazines, and I am a regular contributor to The School Magazine, Australia’s longest-running literary publication for children. I also like to dabble in poetry when I feel inspired (but I am usually too afraid to release it into the world).

I am a member of The Australian Society of Authors (ASA). I am also the events coordinator for The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators SA branch (SCBWI).
